World Cup 2010: OK USA!

I really did think that the United States had a chance is winning the games but at the end of the day Ghana had luck on their side. After 90 minutes the score was 1-1 and with extra time, it was more than enough for them to take the win. But that’s what they lacked tonight, luck.

Still, they have the next four years to prep for the next games in Brazil, but for now check out these steamy photos that were featured in Interview magazine. Click HERE to watch scenes behind the shoot. Oh Lord Almighty!

Hello Kitty Terminal in Taiwan

This post is late BUT while I was in transit in Taiwan to LA from New Delhi, I came across gate C3 — a Hello Kitty Terminal!!! This gate is the only place at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport that has a terminal super dedicated to all things Hello Kitty. Since it was 10:30pm, NO ONE was at the gate! I got to selfishly hang out there all to myself!

Find these signs

And then it appears…!

MAC x Disney: Venomous Villans

Check out the teaser trailer here.

MAC Cosmetics is teaming up with Disney to create a limited edition color collection, intended to launch globally in late September in all MAC locations. The products will feature four Disney characters, on which the brand is keeping mum at the moment — although with a collection name of Venomous Villains, it is assumed that we’re not talking Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse here. Lipstick, powder, lip gloss and blush shades will be sold, ranging in price from $12 to $29.50. [source:WWD]

Photo Diary: New Delhi, India

I went to go visit New Delhi, India for a week for development and to source factories. India is a good place to go for woven fabrics. The prices are a lot cheaper than China but you take a risk in the quality of your goods. That is why it is important to frind the right factories that won’t skip on quality. May is never a good month to visit India – with temperatures and humidity reaching 115°, it is just too uncomfortable to go outside and do anything. Luckily everywhere I went to visit was A/C controlled. I also had Indian food for the first time…chicken masala, can’t go wrong.

Janelle Monae “Tightrope” ft. Big Boy

Janelle Monae is back with her new video, “Tightrope” featuring Big Boi. Her album, ArchAndroid drops May 18! With her funky tightrope dance, i won’t be surprised if MTV doesn’t pick it up as a dance challenge move on America’s Best Dance Crew.

DIY: Nails

Saw this on a blog last week. Stayed home on a Friday night and tried to experiment. It was so much easier than it looks!

nails1[via Hellz Bellz, via Glutter & Bullshit, via Dirty Little Style Whore, via Stop It Right Now]

rawrI just used white polish for the base, black polish to paint squiggly tips, and a skinny nail art brush to paint the drips! And because it’s all drippy, it doesn’t have to be perfect! What do you think?

David Choe at Lazarides Gallery 4.22.10

Last night in Beverly Hills, art aficionados flocked to Lazarides Gallery for a private viewing of David Choe’s “Nothing To Declare.” This isn’t everything. My camera battery died…FAIL! But you should definitely check out the show for yourself. It opens to the public tonight until May(?)

Throwback Thursdays – The Boyz “Dial My Heart”

Heard this song last night, thought I’d share…enjoy!

Photo Diary: London

So I’ve been traveling to London every month since the new year just to be inspired by the fashion scene. All 3 times that I’ve been there, I never make it past Oxford St. – which is the mecca shopping area in Central London. Or there has been some kind of crazy snow storm or rainy weekend which prevents me from really enjoying what London has to offer. I have yet to venture outside and do the tourist thing and visit the countryside.

But Oxford St. is dope! The busy-filled streets remind me of Manhatten, the buildings make me feel like I’ve been time warped to the 18th century, and the amount of people shopping can be compared to Black Friday times 10!!!! You would never think that there was a recession going on.

If you are ever out in London, Oxford St. is the place to be! You got River Island, Bershka, Dorothy Perkins, Selfridge & Co., Miss Selfridge, the infamous Topshop, and surprisingly amazing Primark. All this and then some, located on one street. Then of course you got Carnaby Street (mostly American brand stores like Fornarina, East Pak, Diesel), Liberty (which is like a Barney’s, and smaller boutique/vintage like stores in SoHo.

The nightlife is pretty fresh! I’ve been attending Livin’ Proof’s hip hop parties and they can draw a crowd. First time I went to one of their parties, it was a 90s hip hop night at a bar called Marketplace. The venue when you walk in is like a normal pub but then you go downstairs and it’s literally an underground party. Londoners LOVE hip hop. I’m so shocked to see that almost everyone in attendance knew all the lyrics to the songs, they were shouting out the words at the top of their lungs, dudes were dancing with other dudes – no homo, and ladies can dance/walk/talk freely without having some sweaty dude grind up on them. There were only a handful of wall flowers. The 2nd time was for a tribute for the great late J Dilla. It was nothing but 5 hours of straight Dilla beats, songs, samples, and positive energy. And the 3rd time was like the 1st but Phife Dawg was in town and made an appearance – but no one knew who he was until the dj announced his presence.

Oh and here’s a tip, DO NOT hail a black cab from the street – they will charge an arm and a leg. There are so many private car companies, set up like kiosks that will gladly take you where you want to go for waaaaay cheaper!

I can’t really say much about the food – it’s true what they say, English food tends to be bland and flavorless. When I ask where I can get good food, I am always referred to a Lebanese or Indian restaurant. I tried Indian food for the FIRST time in London – and I don’t think you can count it as REAL Indian food because it was a fusion/tapas restaurant. I tried street vendor’s fish n chips (you have to) which is good but nothing to brag about.

My goal next trip is to definitely try to find a good, local food restaurant and see Big Ben up close.

Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton

Known as “The female Manny Pacquiao,” Bay-Area Pinoy beauty locks horns with Lisa Brown March 27th for WBA Super Bantamweight Title. Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton is smart, beautiful, and can fight like crazy! In boxing terms, this girl is the total package! And with ESPN starting to take notice, she is scheduled to fight Toronto’s Lisa “Bad News” Brown.
Ana IBA full serious

At Rumble at Rama XI, on March 27th, at Casino Rama, in Rama, Ontario, Julaton (6-1-1, 1 KO) and Brown (16-4-3, 5 KO’s) square off for the vacant WBA Super Bantamweight world title in the most important women’s fight of the year, and one of the most important the sport has ever seen.

The 29 year-old Julaton has already proven her fighting mettle in her brief, yet accomplished, career, with her most notable win coming last September in San Jose, California, where she topped veteran Kelsey Jeffries to claim the vacant IBA female Junior Bantamweight title.

Julaton added to her belt collection just 11 weeks later by outclassing Donna Biggers over 10 rounds to capture the WBO 122 lb world crown.

Tokyo Photo Diary

Visiting Tokyo is one of the cities on my “Before I die…” list. I have been lucky in life to visit there once but even more fortunate to go twice! Other than the amazing shopping, I was on a quest this time to find the cool & quirky.

Tokyo Day 3: Design Festa

Done shopping. Time to explore. Introducing Design Festa – the coolest fucking building in Harajuku. Its an art gallery/design studio for artists all over the world. And as you can see from the photos below they really try to make this place as unique as possible.

Nigel, the gallery manager, saw me lurking around the building so he gave me a tour. Every wall, space, nook, and cranny is covered with paintings from different artists – AND it changes every time! Artists of all sorts can rent out different spaces and hold their own exhibitions/parties/events. Hmm…future event for SexyFresh in Harajuku???
