Festival Of Masks & Masquerade Ball

The most unique event in the country today, held by Ay Que Chevere Productions! The Festival of Masks during the day showcases entertainers, jugglers, face painters, stilt walkers, puppet shows, and entertainment for children of all ages. At dusk, the event evolves for adults with a venetian-style masked ball. Not only is this a fabulous production but also a tremendous opportunity for vendors and sponsors to connect with a highly sought after youth market as well as an upscale adult demographic - all in one amazing event!

David Choe at Lazarides Gallery 4.22.10

This piece is my 2nd favorite piece of the evening. My 1st, I have to get it from my buddy’s camera. Sorry.

Janelle Monáe: ArchAndroid Cover

My oh my… With this album cover, I’m more anxious about this upcoming album. How gorgeous is she and how amazing is that “ArchAndroid crown”?!
Whether or not the following information came from Ryan Wakeman, WARPA, the Gaiming community or Janelle Monáe’s journals, Max Stellings and the Palace of the Dogs Archives is inconclusive at this time…What is known or agreed upon is that this information stems from an official entry on The ArchAndroid Crown in the Living Cyktionary, a 28th Century encyclopedia…
The ArchAndroid Crown: Designed by Zoman Ignatius, the half-elf, half-human mystic, reportedly 500 years ago. According to legend, the crown has several magic properties, as well as innovative technologies that can be employed only by The ArchAndroid. Zoman was a consummate inventor, artist and sculptor, a cross between Tesla and Da Vinci, and as such, he designed the crown to be a work of beauty that would embody the very spirit of Metropolis. According to legend, the crown features prominent Metropolis buildings and towers that will light up radiantly when the one and only true ArchAndroid wears the crown. According to the Daily Horos, this opulent headdress was stolen from the vaults in the Black House, reportedly by 1954, in October of 2715. Several members of 1954 were hunted down and executed for this crime. But the crown was never found. Many claim it has been secreted away to the Wonderground. There is also word that in the year 2010, several 1954 operatives have crafted a replica of this historic headdress to be worn by Janelle Monáe in anticipation for her album The ArchAndroid…no word on whether or not this replica has magic properties… The Living Cyktionary, 9th Edition, 2719.

Sabine Pigalle

Parisian innovative photographer, Sabine Pigalle has artistic styles that remind me a lot of Kimiko Yoshida-solid, bold with minimal colors pertaining to the beauty of simplicity. She has had exhibits mainly in France but she has also showcased in other countries such as Japan, Italy, US (Miami) and China.
Can’t Kiss by Pavel Bolo
These photos instantly put a smile on my face. If this doesn’t pick you up… I don’t know what else will. Absolutely clever and funny with a bang of cuteness. Photography work titled “Can’t Kiss” done by Pavel Bolo.

Tokyo Day 3: Design Festa
Done shopping. Time to explore. Introducing Design Festa – the coolest fucking building in Harajuku. Its an art gallery/design studio for artists all over the world. And as you can see from the photos below they really try to make this place as unique as possible.
Nigel, the gallery manager, saw me lurking around the building so he gave me a tour. Every wall, space, nook, and cranny is covered with paintings from different artists – AND it changes every time! Artists of all sorts can rent out different spaces and hold their own exhibitions/parties/events. Hmm…future event for SexyFresh in Harajuku???

Jean Shrimpton by David Bailey
Jill Kennington by Donovan
Twiggy by Norman Parkinson
Françoise Hardy by Roberta Booth
I stumbled across this post and instantly fell in love with the vintage film photographs that captured these amazing icons of the 1970’s. It’s so raw and unedited (and if edited, it’s not as extreme as it is today). We all know that fashion trends repeat itself and I’m always stoked to recognize the 70’s influences around me today-from make up, hair styles, accessories, and of course fashion!
